Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Special enforcement log
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a result of this ruling of the Arbitration Committee, administrators may use special enforcement guidelines in ensuring all pages on Wikipedia comply with the biographies of living persons policy. All such actions by administrators are to be logged on this page. Sanctions may only be imposed if the individual has been counseled and warned regarding the BLP policy and their violations of it, and continues to violate the policy. This warning must be linked to from the log entry on this page in order for the sanction to be valid.
All such actions by administrators under this ruling may only be overturned by clear community consensus at the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Arbitration enforcement board, or by the Arbitration Committee.
All logged sanctions should be accompanied with evidence of the sanctioned editor being counseled and warned, as per the above. Where an action has been reversed or modified, this should be clearly marked, and must be accompanied by evidence of explicit approval from the Committee, or of clear consensus from the community.

Templates
If possible, please issue warnings and sanctions in your own words and be as clear as possible; explain what parts of WP:BLP were violated, which edits were in violation of policy, whether a warning is final, etc. The following templates may be of use in some circumstances.
- {{subst:uw-blpse3|1=Article}} to warn a new user or one not familiar with BLP. Assumes good faith, but may serve as a final warning in the case of particularly serious violations. This template is intended to fill this ruling's requirement that violating users be counseled on the policy.
- {{subst:uw-blpse4|1=Article|2=Reason for violation}} is intended to follow a level 4 warning, and serves as a final warning before a block.
- {{subst:BLP Spec Warn|1=Article|2=Specific BLP policy violated}} to final warn a user of BLP violations.
- {{subst:BLP Spec Sanction|1=Sanction}} to notify a user of special enforcement sanctions.
- {{BLP Spec Admin}} may be used in log and edit summaries to indicate the nature of the action taken.
- {{subst:BLP Spec Article}} to notify contributors that an article is under special enforcement sanctions.
Log
Current sanctions
- 71.232.13.108 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · abuse filter log · block user · block log) blocked 31 hours for falsely stating the death of Mark McGrath (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs), after being warned at User talk:71.232.13.108 and persisting after revert, see this diff. JGHowes talk 20:58, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Mongo714 (talk · contribs · logs · block log) indefinitely blocked for repeated and serious violations at Gary Null (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs), which continued after being warned here. MastCell Talk 19:43, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Jalapeanodeano (talk · contribs · logs · block log) blocked indefinitely for page move vandalism at Robin van Persie (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs). User has history of vandalism, but blocked for seriousness of allegation (made in move comment). Move and offensive comments were removed from the page history. I also protected the move target for three months. Kbthompson (talk) 11:09, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Expired sanctions
- Sarah Palin (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) is placed under full protection for a period of two weeks, ending 2008-09-18 UTC 15:02, for continued violations of the WP:BLP policy. Noted at talk page [1]; performed by MBisanz (talk · contribs).
-
- Per this comment, I believe in good faith that MBisanz doesn't intend for this restriction to remain in place, and per a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Arbitration_enforcement#Time_for_semi-protection, I intend to reduce the protection to semi. kmccoy (talk) 23:42, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- Patrick M. McCarthy (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) is deleted per Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Badlydrawnjeff#Summary_deletion_of_BLPs but logged here as it is in contradiction with the recent Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Patrick M. McCarthy (which closed with no consensus). The closing administrator was consulted and was amenable to this decision. See also the relevant section at WP:BLPN. This deletion is not intended to preclude the creation of a wholly new biography of McCarthy that is compliant with policy. CIreland (talk) 16:58, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
