West Nanjing Road (Shanghai Metro)

Nanjing Road West (Chinese: 南京西路站; pinyin: Nánjīng Xī Lù Zhàn) is the name of a station on Shanghai Metro Line 2. This station is conveniently located along a very large pedestrian street which sells anything from snacks to DVDs to trinkets to jewelry to imported mobile phones and other electronic equipment.

Until October 2006, it was known as Shimen No. 1 Road station (石门一路站). The name was changed according to the new convention to name metro stations after famous streets or sights nearby rather than the vertical street neighbouring the station, making it easier for visitors to find these places.

Nanjing Road West will also become a station on Line 12 and Line 13 once the lines open respectively. Both lines are under construction.
