[edit] Today

The stadium is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FK Budućnost Podgorica. It also serves as a venue for games that other Montenegrin teams play in European competitions, as it is the only Montenegrin stadium that fulfills UEFA standards.

It is a frequent host of the Montenegro national football team, and its debut match against Hungary was played there.

The stadium's original capacity was about 7,000 spectators, which expanded to 17,000[1] with the additions of the north and south stands. An eastern stand is planned to be built soon, which will bring the stadium's capacity to over 20,000.

The pitch measures 105 x 70 meters, and had its grass completely changed in 2006.

The stadium was burned completely during the 1950s, but was later rebuilt.[citation needed]

The north stand is home for FK Budućnost fans, the popular Varvari. It contains about a quarter of the stadium's total seating capacity. The other stands in the stadium are available to most other kinds of spectators. Varvari often account for a large percentage of the attendance at games featuring FK Budućnost. They are the largest ultras group in Montenegro.
