Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is the statutory fire and rescue service for the county of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. It is adminstered by a Fire Authority which is an internal part of Hertfordshire County Council. The Chief Fire Officer is Roy Wilsher, assisted by Deputy Chief Fire Officer Mark Yates.
The Service Headquarters is located in Hertford whilst the Training and Development Centre and Fire Control Centre are located at Longfield in Stevenage.
In December 2005, the FRS dealt with what is thought to be the largest fire since World War II following an explosion at the Buncefield oil dept near Hemel Hempstead. The incident saw a large scale national response involving many UK brigades.

WrL - Water Ladder (Fire Engine) is a standard front line fire appliance.
ALP - Aerial Ladder Platform - provides high reach capability for fires and rescues.
RSU - Rescue Support Unit - carries heavy cutting gear and line and water rescue equipment.
ISU - Incident Support Unit - mobilised to larger incidents it primarily carries damage control kit.
HMU - Hazard Management Unit - mobilised to deal with and protect the public and fire crews at chemical incidents.
ICU - Incident Control Unit - Provides an on site Control Point at larger incidents.
ATV - All Terrain Vehicle - for dealing with fires where a normal WrL cannot access.
IRU - Incident Response Unit - Government provided vehicle for mass deonctamination.
HVPU - High Volume Pumping Unit - Government provided vehicle for moving mass quantities of water at fires or during flooding.
