The term Anglican denotes those people and churches following the religious traditions of the Church of England, especially after the English Reformation. Anglicans trace these traditions back to the first followers of Jesus, but acknowledge that schisms occurred first with the Oriental Orthodox, then the Eastern Orthodox and finally with the Roman Catholic churches. Like Oriental and Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches (and unlike many Protestant churches), Anglicans maintain authority within the church through apostolic succession. This category includes articles related to the Anglican branch of the Christian Church.^[1]
