Cambridge, Gloucestershire

Cambridge (pronounced /ˈkæmbrɪdʒ/) is a village in the district of Stroud, in the county of Gloucestershire, England. It lies on the A38 road between Bristol and Gloucester, about three miles (5 km) from Dursley.

The village lies in the civil parish of Cam and takes its name from the River Cam which flows through it. Hence the 'cam' in the name is pronounced to rhyme with 'ham', unlike the first syllable of the better known city of Cambridge in Cambridgeshire, which is pronounced to rhyme with 'fame'.

The village has two public houses, called the George and the White Lion. There are regular buses to Bristol, Gloucester and Thornbury.

In nearby Slimbridge is the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, that was founded by Peter Scott.
