Biswamohan Pani is a former design engineer at Intel. In November 2008 he has been charged with stealing $1 billion worth of trade secrets from Intel while he worked for its main rival, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). [1] [2] The information he apparently obtained is believed to be related to Intel's next-generation Itanium microprocessor. [1] "If convicted, Pani could face 10 years in prison for the theft charge and up to 20 years on each wire fraud charge." [1] This incident shed light, according to BusinessWeek, on the vulnerability of Intel, one of the world's biggest and most sophisticated technology companies. [3]
