Altaic mythologies is a cover term for the mythologies and indigenous religions of the Turkic, Mongolic, Tungusic, Korean, and sometimes Japonic peoples. These peoples speak languages which are widely thought to be related in an Altaic language family, but their mythologies are often more closely tied to neighboring non-Altaic peoples than they are to each other, except for the Turks and Mongols, who have a recent shared history. Altaic is not a classification based on comparative mythology.
